Collections & Research

The heart of the Royal BC Museum is in its collections and the research opportunities they provide. We develop, safeguard and interpret an enormous range of artifacts and specimens that have provincial significance, carefully classifying, codifying and organizing them for review, verification and research.

Exhibits and galleries at the Museum are the result of careful study and documentation, but they are only able to show a small fraction of the research that goes on here. Researchers at the Museum, throughout British Columbia, and around the world use our collections to reveal new insights into the natural world and human cultures of BC.
