Schools & Kids

The Royal BC Museum's on-site school programs have been inspiring the minds and imagination of youth for over 30 years. Each year, the Museum develops and provides programs on subjects ranging from pioneer life to climate change. Programs run from the middle of October to the end of April, and take place in the Museum's galleries and classroom.

Capacity Limits
Large numbers of visitors at one time can hamper your learning experience. For this reason we reserve the right to restrict the number of booked groups allowed per day. Please ensure to contact the museum well in advance of your visit to ensure that we can accommodate you.

Field Trip Planning: Orientation Video and School Visit Instructions

Our Orientation Video is also a useful planning tool.  Review it yourself and even share it with the class prior to their visit.  It will introduce them to the museum and what will happen when they get here.

Our School Visit Instructions provides more information about how to prepare for your visit, what to expect when you get here and how to help your students make the most of their experience.

Print out a copy of our Behaviour Contract on page 5 and review it with your students.  Print out a copy of Chaperone Handout on page 6 and give a copy to each of your chaperones.

Transportation
Getting to Victoria is easy with BC Ferries. Sail from the Tsawwassen Terminal (Vancouver) to the Swartz Bay Terminal (Sidney/Victoria). For school sponsored events, BC student groups may be eligible for travel at a special reduced rate. Please call BC Ferries for details.
