This year’s Artifact or Artifiction fundraiser was another success, as 375 guests used their fib-detectors in a game with fabulous prizes – all in support of the Royal BC Museum.

Artifact or Artifiction is the Royal BC Museum’s signature gala event and the official kick off to a larger fundraising campaign for the areas of greatest need in the museum and archives: educational programs, exhibition development, research projects, acquisitions and collection conservation.

“A total of $82,000 was raised at this year’s Artifact or Artifiction and we couldn’t have done it without the 30 sponsors who made this event possible. In particular, we would like to thank CIBC for their continuing support as Presenting Sponsor,” said Rafferty. “Financial support from the community – including all our gala-goers – is essential for the Royal BC Museum to continue to research, interpret and share B.C.’s story.”

Artifact or Artifiction is a game where party-goers try to determine if 20 statements about 20 items from the Royal BC Museum collection are true or false. This year most of the statements were surprising, but true. While playing, guests enjoyed a delicious roving buffet donated by Truffles Catering and a selection of fine BC wine, beer and cider.
